My favorite SouthWestern city

In 1972, the Castle show was the 1st circus to play their new building. By virtue of my cat act being 1st on the program, I claim the title of being the 1st circus act to play there. I had this privilege twice more in new buildings in which we were the first circus--Medicine Hat, Alberta, and Brandon, Manitoba. An honor like this and a fin will get me a mickey.

We jumped into Tucson from Memphis, Tennessee, and were in no mood for delays. But we followed Alice Cooper, whose fans packed the joint the night before, indulging in wine and marijuana. They had vomited all over the brand new seats, the carpeted walkways, the steps, and the whole building. The staff couldn't let us in until 10 a.m., having to get their frantic clean-up approved by the Health Dept. We worked our butts off to open with a 2:15 matinee.
