The 1888 producers in Prescott, claiming to be the oldest rodeo, may not have known that Pecos, Texas (in #8), had declared theirs as the first, 5 years earlier, in 1883.
In Pecos, I visited the well-tended gravesite of the infamous gunfighter, Clay Allison. My grandmother was his distant cousin.
