I caught the next boat and after arriving back in the States and being released went straight to Norman Anderson,s place in Norco, Calif. where my folks had wintered just in time to open with Rudy Bros. Circus and started working the family elephant act.
It wasn't easy, my Dad would stand outside the ring and yell, "No!...No!...Push 'em over!....Are you going to let her get away with that?...sometimes step in the ring, take the stick and say, "This is what I mean!"
But by seasons end I was getting pretty good.
You might notice the soap on "Lydia's" head. We also did the barber shop number in the show.
