Here Comes The Circus! #2

One of the articles in the October 1942 issue of MOVIE MAKERS MAGAZINE was CASTLES’ CREW FILMS CIRCUS, which describes how HERE COMES THE CIRCUS was made. Since most of you are familiar with this film (and might even have a copy of it in your collection) here is the complete article, illustrated with frame enlargements from the film itself.

HERE COMES THE CIRCUS remained in the Castle catalog from 1942 to 1967 and literally hundreds of 8mm and 16mm prints still survive. (They turn up on eBay all the time.) Several years ago, the History Channel did a program on the 1944 Ringling Hartford fire. Unable to come up with any footage of a 1944 Ringling performance, the producers used footage of the 1941 Cole Bros. Circus taken from HERE COMES THE CIRCUS.
