That's the first commercial gas-powered automobile, a Duryea motor wagon, as exhibited by the Barnum & Bailey show in 1896 in their menagerie tent (note slightly blurry cage wagons in back). It was conceived and built in Springfield, Mass., by two brothers who rented a room in the home of my great-grandfather for the year they were designing their first car.
