I once saw an original of this picture stating it was taken in Springfield, Mass., and that the car is a Knox, built in Springfield. I can't match the design to images found on the internet but they are few anyway. Three-wheeled Knox tractors were found on a few circuses and Knox also made the first motorized fire engines.

This was the Knox f-4 body with its air cooled motor. That is always a tip off when looking at photos of the early 4 wheel Knox cars. This is, I think the touring model with the long leaf spring susp. in the front. They were built by Henry Knox of Springfield Mass. as Dick has reported. He would later move over to the Atlas motor car company after this car was built.
I too have seen this photo, and it may have be in the Ringling Museum as I think it was there or maybe Harold Dunn had a copy of it.

I wonder how long it took to talk the Colonel into climbing aboard for this picture?
He's playing it straight tho, game face and all.

I have a small shot of Buffalo Bill sitting in an open car next to Teddy Roosevelt. I wouldn't know a Knox from a Dusenberg, but it may have been this car. I'll try to locate it and post it for comparison.
