In 1938, Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Zoo had two young elephants named Hilda, age 6 and Bill, age 7.

From Ron Ellis, prev. head elephant keeper, Prospect Park Zoo, through Richard Chiger, I have understood Bill pushed Hilda into the dry moat, why she had to be shot in 8 september 1938 due to the fractures.

Bil himself fell in the dry moat next year (1939), and had to be shot for the same reasons.

I have ten elephants listed in Prospect Zoo http://www.elephant.se/location2.php?location_id=460&show=6
