Harold was always given a traditional top hat by the wardrobe department.

But he hated hats. Carried it but rarely (if ever) wore it.

Times obituary: "In 2004 Mr. Ronk was inducted into the International Circus Hall of Fame, in Peru, Ind., with a plaque honoring him as “the legendary voice of the circus.” After his success, other circuses began hiring singing ringmasters, and the tradition continues today at Ringling Brothers."

Hal brought his own primitive

wireless mike to the show many

years before this photo and it

came with a tremendous receiver

unit that picked up police &

taxi radios from time to time

The whole caboodle gave the

building sound men fits but

allowed him freedom to roam

We went through many versions

as they got better & smaller

before the 1 you see here
