1979 Ringling-back yard

1979 Ringling-back yard, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

I don’t any information as to what this truck was used for. Was it the bear wagon? (When Wally Naghtin’s bears made their entrance and the spotlights first picked them out walking upright down the track, a collective OHHH would go up from the audience at every performance!)

This was Wally Naghtin's bear truck before he had a lovely
5-wheel made for them.

When the bears made their entrance, the band played the "Russian Circus March."

I recall Wally having a Wells Cargo trailer pulled by a pink car in the early 60's for his bears. He and Rex Williams were still in the flying act at that time then he got a semi also built by Wells Cargo during the Clyde Bros era. Then this rig, shown in photo, Castle-Polack-Vargas to RBBB, was built in Michigan by the same co that built Rex Young's truck which Rex hauled his funny Ford in during the Castle years. During Wally's RBBB years he commissioned Southern body in FL to build him a semi pulled by a one ton tractor. All sharp rigs.

wally probably followed my mom and dad in the purchase of wells cargo equipment

gee gee and billy powell purchased a custom made unit in 1958 and a lot of show people were impressed with the quality of the construction

it had a double floor with a possum belly for props...the back end housed the husky dogs

i think word got around after that and wells cargo started doing business with a bunch of show people

i believe wally was on the pollack show in 1960 and first saw the wells cargo trailer
