The baby elephant on the back track is "Karen" followed by "Targa" with fake tusks and a blanket bearing the name "Jumbo".
Notice the calliope has to cut thru the end ring, the reason being the modern arena is designed accommodate Ice Hockey and big spec floats couldn't make it around the floor plates.
This problem has been ingeniously resolved by not only eliminating big spec floats but the rings themselves.

The show recorded some music on the huge carillon of the Washington Cathedral to pipe through that float during spec.

It never really worked too well. Recording and playback techniques in those days were vastly inferior to what could be done today.
