Gary and Chic,
As this is 1970 is it not possible that the act was smaller then? Regardless, it was my honor to use 4 of the seat pedestal's pictured, which Charley "requisitioned" from Hagenbeck in addition to 2 of Ursula's bear seats, plus 7 of GGW's seat's (pre roman column retirement props) to put together the tiger act for the 92-93 tour. Boy, did I feel like a big dog using the equipment that those honored folks had used.

I had known Charly from his 1st

year over here (introduced by

Trolle) and can't remember him

ever having less than 14 tigers

My only thought is maybe there

was some day specific problem

Can anybody help

I believe Charly came here with nine tigers in his act and did that act for some time and then added four more young ones. I recall the Fall of 69 in Madison, Wisc. seeing him with the additional four for about their first time in public and it was quite a hassle with two of them down in the ring curb beside the net arena and would not come out. Quite a time and a lengthy tiger act you can be sure, but you have to bite the bullet. However in the years I recall twelve in his act. When Wolfgang came over with 19 lions, Gunther went nuts to increase his tiger act and maybe Charly did add more, but in my time around him I recall twelve. Not the highly polished props. Charly made his cage man wipe them during every cage set up. How about that?
