We need your help!

The Circus City Museum & Park Board of Hugo Oklahoma, a 501c3 non-profit group, is in the process of purchasing two lots of property directly south of our library on Jackson Street in Hugo. The desire of the board members is to convert the existing building into a circus museum and turning the property surrounding it into a park or garden showcasing circus animals and their habitats as well as some native trees, bushes and animals.
Mr. Wesley Johnson has been hired as the architect on the project and has drawn up plans for converting the existing house into a museum and for laying out the garden area to incorporate a fountain, seating throughout the grounds and a covered area for groups, etc. Mr. Johnson is the same architect that drew up the plans for the Choctaw County Library. Our library has a wonderful circus theme with many bronze works of art throughout by Mr. Jim Franklin from Perry, Oklahoma. You can visit their website at www.hugo.lib.ok.us for a look at the beauty and quality of his works.
Hugo Oklahoma has been the home for many circuses throughout the years and still is the winter quarters home to the Carson & Barnes Circus, Kelly Miller Circus and Culpepper-Merriweather Circuses. The circuses and their families, as well as employees are an integral part of our community. One of the goals of the board members in undertaking this project is to honor the circus history and circus members of our community as well as all circus fans, while creating a unique learning environment for the general public.
We are excited about creating a place that circus fans will want to visit and study circus history, see exciting circus memorabilia and then spend time relaxing in our garden.
At this time we are accepting donations of any kind, either monetary or circus memorabilia. We are very excited about this project and the impact it will have on our community and circus fans everywhere.
Any questions may be directed to Mrs. Marilyn Custer at 580 326-3547 or 580 317-4234. Please make donation checks out to: Circus City Museum & Park. All donations may be mailed to Circus City Museum & Park Board at P. O. Box 794, Hugo, Oklahoma 74743.

While I will be sending a small token to the Hugo fund ( I spent a lovely afternoon there while driving cross country and visited the Carson and Barnes quarters briefly and I still have the "Carson and Barnes 5 ring Circus Big Top Family Fun Coming Soon" sticker on my ukulele case) this question is totally off topic. Saw a poster today for the "Kingford Circus" playing this weekend here in New Orleans. Last year at the same time and in the same parking lot the Barnes and Bailey played. They appeared the year before the hurricane as :The Great Circus of China. Is this the same show with a different name?

Thanks,

JP

Gotta love a title like Kingsford. If you're inclined to burning something you can't beat America's favorite charcoal
