JIM ELLIOTT has left a new comment on your post "From Dominic Yodice":

This float, was purchased in the late 1970"s, by the W.G. Wade Shows, carnival.
I was dispatched, by Glenn Wade, himself, to Ceader Rapids, Iowa, in a1969, International Scout vehicle, to pick the float up and return to the Allegan, Mich. fairgrounds.
The float had an air calliope mounted, between the stacks. The two stacks were hinged, so they could be folded down while being transported, from one location to another.
In the early 1980's, the calliope was removed, and mounted in a 1933 White horse van, which had been restored, in the Wade Shows winterquarters. It was used for parades for the next seven or eight years, then was retired, and stored in a building in Mason, Mich. where it is at the present time.
The float, had been converted to a trailer type vehicle, so it could be pulled, in parades by a pick-up truck. It was donated to the Allegan County Fair, and finally ended up in the hands of Dick Gernn, a fairboard member, and I do NOT know what he ever did with it.
In case anyone is wondering, I am back home, in Florida, feeling pretty good, and as of today, am back in the business of observing the BEST BLOG SITE, in ALL of Showbusiness.
JUST KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, BUCKLES, as it is ENJOYED by many people daily.

Nice wagon. It's a shame to think that he cut down horse van has been gathering dust for twenty years while the valves gum up and the pipes tarnish.

Jim:

Could you attach some dates to the events you describe about the Showboat Float? Thanks -- Rick Purdue

The request above is my first comment to Buckles Blog and I messed it up. Rereading Jim Elliott's post, I see he has already given the dates I asked about, thus make my request irrelevant. I apologize for wasting your time and cyberspace. With luck, I'll do better next time. --Rick Purdue

Rick,
Don't apologize for wasting this blog's time or cyberspace. Anonymous and James C. Hall do it all the time. Wade Burck
