From Jim Cole

Lucio Cristiani on Rudy Bros. Circus in 1973. This is a great picture from an unidentified photographer. Lucio passed away in 1992, however his lovely wife Gilda is living in Sarasota. Their two son's Tino and Armando and their children are still out on the road performing separately. There are feature articles about both of these families in the new CFA website: www.circus4youth.org

Lucio, was a real gentleman. I was on the CBCB show for 2 separate weeks in 1964 and he was always a very gracious person. Perhaps Roger Smith can add some comments because he was there a lot longer than I was. I remember that he was trying to tell a joke in Spanish that worked in Italian but not in Spanish. He never could get the joke to work.

I never met Lucio but I've been fortunate enough to work with his son Armando on several occasions over the last few years and he and has family are ALWAYS a pleasure to have on the show.

This photo of Lucio could have been taken by the director of The Circus Kingdom, Rev. L. David Harris. He sold reprints in 1991-2 at Sarasota's Circus Festival. I toured with TCK 1989-1993 and helped mat and sell the photos-- when I wasn't playing in the band.
