In Peru, in 1995, I learned that most, if not all, of the Sarasota Hall of Fame, arrived there, to languish--or, to sit rotting, as Clyde Beatty's daughter put it--in trucks for years due to no money to sort it out, and no place to house further exhibits. I haven't heard any better news since, and trust someone might provide an update.
It has also been claimed that when contributors learned to their horror of this failed transfer, they pled for their artifacts--rigging, costumes, props, et al--to be returned to them. Their requests were rebuffed, with the response that once items were donated, it is museum policy never to return them to donors.

This building with both interior
exhibit & performance spaces as
well as outdoor performing areas
sat across 41 (The Trail) from
our Sarasota airport was built
in the late 50s & closed in the
early 80s & had a big collection
of historic circus wagons that
were mostly on loan
Bummer! I was hoping to check it out. I finally got to visit Baraboo last year...
