Mabel rarely wore dresses, as most of her day involved animal caretaking work, and performing her act, but when the occasion arose, she certainly knew how to come through in her Sunday finest.

This is one of the nicest photos of Mabel. If she was never considered a beauty, some photos have her described as a handsome woman. Here is a portrait of a circus tiger woman, serene and content, exactly where she is supposed to be.

She once said to me, "Some people beat the world down to get what they want, and find out later they didn't want it so bad after all. When I won my battles to get what I wanted, I was different than most women--I found out I wanted it more every day."
