This might have been doctored

I wasn't the physician however

(perhaps it's a reality)

Opened March 28th 1929 at a cost of $9.5 million

The Chicago Stadium was the largest indoor arena

in the world at that time

Another Chicago history site

claims it was only $7 million

It was demolished in 1995

Don't know if this shot is from the right year, but Clyde Beatty starred on the Cole show in that building. What a hell of a big deal that was, drawing crowds like this in the middle of the Great Depression. Adkins and Terrell got a major bank loan on the strength of signing Beatty, and for three strong seasons, they had a hit. 1938 was cruel to circuses, and the Cole show closed in mid-seaon, shipping their top acts to their sister-show, Robbins Bros.
