I've just learned that Hans Rode
died on Thursday June 28th
He was 80 & he died peacefully
A celebration of life will be
held tomorrow Saturday the 14th
at the "Sarasota Football Club"
the soccer club he established
at 5227 Richardson Road here in
Sarasota from 1P until 4P
Hans was the younger brother of
Bruno that headed up "The Rodos"
The family operated the German
restaurant "Old Heidelberg Castle"
in Sarasota for many years
As shown above with his exwife
Roesmarie they performed as "The
Palace Duo" an incredible very
high working scary cradle act
High working scary cradle act sums it right up.....It would have to be one of the best cradle acts I ever saw....You were almost happy when it was over....it was that scary, the best of the best.
To me they were the BEST EVER
of the many cradle acts I've seen
I saw Hans at the club not very
long ago (or was it)
There was an incredible turnout
at the soccer club today for
the celebration for Hans Rode
Johnny Yong who was a board
member as well as a retired
circus performer & a retired
Sheriff's deputy in Sarasota
told me there were more than
300 guests in attendance
A rowdy bunch as imagined
3 of the 4 surviving "Rodo"
girls were there including
Rosie Inge & Marlene but
Eva wasn't able to attend
His son "Hansie" (as I knew him)
told that his father died very
quitly napping in his lounger
after his dinner while watching
the 'World Cup Soccer" on TV
Certainly the best way to go
