.....I remember him telling my father that Mrs. Beatty was highly inaccurate with that whip and no one, including the elephant, escaped the arena unscathed!

OK, fuzzy previous photo or no, we have Eugene "Arky" Scott leading Anna May. Mrs. Beatty has now mounted the lion Simba on the platform beside Primba. In time, Simba began losing his sight, was retired, and never replaced. Primba continued alone, and had her successors, the last of which was tigress Singapore at the time of Harriett Beatty's death, in 1950. Both Dorothy Herbert and Bobby Peck stepped up, offering to take over this act, but after some sincere attempts, the act faded from the program.
