Mabel with Boston again, @ R, and his sister, Beauty @ L. In Mabel's personal albums are photos of them in her home, at 912 State Street, in Bridgeport, when RBB still wintered at Barnum's old quarters. For the more involved researcher, and if Google Earth can be trusted, this home can still be seen, somewhat reconfigured now, but still there at this address.

Many have seen the shot, taken moments after this one, when Boston is lunging off this trunk at a man usually stated as "unidentified". He's Al Sands, veteran manager of the Barnes show, who got his new suit shredded that day. Sands married a woman named Lelia, which coincidentally was the name of Mabel's mother.

CINDY POTTER: Leslie Zemeckis just e-mailed that the Mabel Stark documentary, once considered to be almost at picture lock, is back in the editing room, and the release date may come in December. Leslie shot my interview 5 days after my shoulder replacement surgery, so I dread to think what I'll look like. But for sure, what she produces will be up for all the documentary awards, as proven with her wins for BEHIND THE BURLY Q, and BOUND BY FLESH, the story of Daisy and Violet Hilton. So what you'll get will be a valuable telling of Mabel's career. I've been encouraged to write a book. I did write "A Day In The Life of Mabel Stark" for BANDWAGON, detailing how Mabel and I worked together by the hour. I've written her film bio, TIGER QUEEN, THE LIFE OF MABEL STARK. Leslie likes it, and took precious time to read it thoroughly and offer me constructive re-write notes, which I'm incorporating now. For the present, it cannot be known if there will be a film from my script, but it has the interest of Leslie Zemeckis, who is well-placed in the industry. A print bio would be compatible with a feature film, indeed.
