My father never encouraged me to get around elephants, in fact when I got married he said, "Listen to your wife, she knows more about elephants than you do". I eventually got the knack by helping Logan and today have no idea how many young elephants have passed thru my hands. |

It's funny you bring this up, Buckles. The other day Richard Flint and I were talking about the "lineage" of elephant trainers and how many got their start on the Dailey show - Rex, Smokey. It seems most modern day ( well at least when there were zoo and circus elephants to train ) trainers stemmed from a few core trainers in the 1950s - Louie Reed, Hugo Schmitt, your father. I would be interested to hear others ideas on this topic.
OMG, OK, I'll say it. THE DAILEY SHOW! I'm surprised we haven't experienced an earthquake with all the past trainers rolling over in their graves.
