Ernest Clarke was not the first to throw the triple, but was the first to become consistent with it. His catcher was brother Charles. I'm not sure about the lady here, as the two men were famed for working only a 2-act--just a flyer and his catcher, with no one aloft to drop bars. Their flying returns were accomplished by sheer skills in timing, and Ernest's flying had to leave his bar swinging true for the return. Ernest married Elizabeth Rebecca Hanneford, alternately known as Lizzie or Becca. They were the parents of Laura Elizabeth Clarke, forever called by a name not on her birth certificate, Ernestine, and of course remembered by most of us as Ernie.
