The Wayne Sanguin Machine Shop made this Clown Car for the Kelly-Miller Show with Eddie Dullem and Lee Virtue (in drag) in front and driven by Phil Enos in the back trunk. The car would enter to the strains of "The Old Gray Mare She Ain't What She Used To Be!" and with an explosion, break down on cue after Phil had dropped a Cherry Bomb thru a tube. Pandemonium, and a lot of commotion and at each following explosion Lee would throw up his arms in panic, lifting up the long baggy Boobs, scream "Mercy!" then let them drop. It was done in such a clever way the audience loved it. In fact became infectious, on the lot you would hear somebody accidentally drop something and hear "Mercy!". One day Phil missed the tube, it went off inside the car and he was badly burned. I remember as they were taking him away to the Hospital, Logan saying "Finally got a Laugh." |

Cherry bomb! I wonder if they make those anymore? They would drive a PC fire marshal crazy today.
Cherry Bombs (due to shape & color)
are still around but they mostly
have been replaced by M-80 salutes
which are tubular shape & stronger
As you might imagine I have some
