I CAN'T THINK OF ANY GIFT THAT WOULD HAVE MEANT SO MUCH TO ME. THANK YOU MRS. PAUL NELSON. I LOVED GENE ALLEN. SHE WAS SO GOOD TO ME. IT WAS NOT HER JOB TO TEACH ME. ALSO LOUIE REID TAUGHT ME. THEY BOTH WENT OUT OF THIER WAY TO TEACH ME. NOTICE THE POINTED TOES ON GENE ALLEN. I WAS A VERY VERY LUCKY GIRL. GENE ALLEN ALSO WORKED THE ELEPHANTS. EVEN WHEN "LUCY" WOULD GET MAD AND BACK UP TO THE RING AND REFUSE TO MOVE. THEY WOULD SEND FOR GENE. WHEN SHE STEPPED INTO THE RING "LUCY" WOULD GO ON WITH THE ACT. "LUCY" HAD KILLED GABE TUCKER ON THE "RUSSEL BROS." DON'T KNOW THE YEAR. I ENDED UP WORKING "LUCY" IN HARNESS ON THE LOT AT NIGHT, ON THE "DAILEY BROS. CIRCUS." THEY WERE SHORT OF HELP. ( I didn't even get the two dollars a night the working men got. ) But I did learn. I was lucky........Barbara.......

The lady in the center is Cindy Herriott Wells

The lady on the right is Liz Green Dane who

had her own elephant "Queenie" growing up on

her family's Wild Bird & Animal Farm in Vermont

where Barbara's mother trained animal acts

What would Kathy do with your left arm Wade

Maybe you could offer her something else

Perhaps 1 of your horses

Yeah right, Chic. Swap a horse for a horse whip? Peta would be all over that. If I can't secure a whip, at least I still have the memory training a horse act at the Bale's place with John Milton, Hub Hubbell, and Paul Nelson sitting outside the ring counseling me. Memories with no price tag.........
