Wally Ross told many stories about his drinking days. He was long since in AA when I knew him, and hadn't drank in many years. He told us he was en route to Watsonville, California, driving drunk, when he wrecked the truck, killing his wife and an elephant. I don't know if this is the young lady or the elephant he referred to, but the story was told as part of his lifelong contrition. In Thousand Oaks, he was married to a lady much older, who outlived Wally by several years.
