Freddy once told me that when Hugo and elephants arrived on the lot they dropped off his wardrobe trunk in the elephant men's tent and being right after WW2 someone immediately broke into it and scattered things around. Upon his return a fist fight ensued and shortly after he and elephants were sent on down to Sarasota and John North put him in charge of the elephants the following winter.
