This one is a little fuzzy. I think that's Raymond Escorcia above Merle, 2nd row, 4th from R. The man top row, 2nd from R, on the snare drum, I recall as Ray--who has his full name? He came on in mid-season '68 on Miller-Johnson. Great show drummer.
The legendary William Ray "Red" Floyd on snare drum. He played with Merle Evans in the RBBB band for 30 years. Merle always included Red on his short list of top circus musicians.
Ray Floyd. How did I forget his name? But I remember his drumming. We had a drummer--I can't bring myself to say who--who came out of the big band era, and by the mid-'60s, on Miller-Johnson, had a progessive neuromuscular disease. The drummer couldn't realize the cues being missed, and Charlie Germaine dropped the ax. Red Floyd came on, and the whole performance came alive to his expertise on the skins. Thank you, DON.
