What I thought would be a somber affair turned out to be more of a Celebration.
The Chapel was filled to capacity in fact for a while I thought the Col. might have to give a second performance.
The mood was set with John clad in his Ring Master wardrobe, top hat and whistle.
People there from every show in Florida and beyond and of course, it wasn't long before the ceremony turned into a jackpot session with relatives, friends, show owners and Circus Fans telling stories.
We won't see his like again.

the Rev Jeffery Gross is the pastor of the church where my daughter is on staff as their youth director. Sounds like it was a great memorial service, celebrating the memories of a great guy.
It was wonderful tribute to a GREAT SHOWMAN!
Tremendous outpouring of thoughts
& heartfelt memories of a beloved
husband father grandfather & true
friend to so many who filled the
Toale Chapel to overflowing "SRO"
His 4 daughters did their father
proud with their recollections
Granddaughter Cassidy gave a well
thought out tribute & another of
the grandkids texted her thoughts
while on a jump between dates
As a final tribute we were able
to listen to John's famous poem
"A Showman's Heaven" in his own
voice thanks to Shannon Woodcock
who was able to record & play it
for us all to hear last night
A fitting tribute.
Beautiful.
