Not quite!
"Stella" was still being fed from a bottle with a special formula concocted by by wife.
Having established a maternal relationship she sometimes got the bottle and the real thing confused as this photo indicates.
I'll let her elaborate since the subject is more Facebook related.
I don't know just how to go about telling this story!! Oh well, weak of heart don't go any further. It seams I have a very strong maternal instinct. Here goes, when we got Baby "Stella", I GOT MILK". YES I CAME FRESH. This was the first time it had happened to me. (except when I had a human baby.) AND "Baby STELLA" KNEW RIGHT AWAY. In the picture she was not reaching for my hair. She had me by the boob, yes my boob. Or plainer language my breast. NO I NEVER LET HER NURSE. But she was always trying. Buckles thought it was funny. Mainly when we would be in the ring and he would turn her loose too early while I was trying to style, and she would grab me, and it would leave a little dirty mark on my costume. That is how it came about that that she would suck my finger. I gave her my finger to try to take her mind off of nursing for real. Any mother that has nursed her baby knows the feeling that goes with it. And to top it off every time I got a baby leopard the same thing would happen. I ask my Dr. about it, he said in the wagon train days I would have been a good wet nurse, or further back. And all my baby animals knew I had milk!!!.....But "Stella" just wouldn't leave it alone. And Buckles made it worse, he loved it. Once he turned "Stella" lose while I was still in the trailer getting ready. Well she ran round and round the trailer until she found the door, and she came right THROUGH the screen door to me. She was a wonderful little elephant......I should have kept a ....BABY BOOK....Barbara.....
Like I said you were torturing her
by not letting her nurse naturaly
