Sparks Circus #18

Nice Kelty photo.
Everyone in their Spec wardrobe with the 14 piece band sporting turbans.
I often wondered why Arabic Specs were so popular, maybe the long robes covered up the working men.
We had the same thing on the Cole Show 20 years later called "The Caliph of Baghdad" tho it was led by the American Flag, the Cristianis dressed as Mounties and the band  in their usual uniforms playing "March to Mecca".
I remember the silence after the musicians had completed their lap around the track during the brief time it took them to remove their capes and hats and scramble back up on the bandstand, filled by Tommy Comstock at the air calliope.

Woska at right end, second row.

Atop the Dancing Girls tab, you see Big Top Canvas dept all doubling as Zulu tribesmen.

Paul Wenzel @ Center L. The clown cop @ Lower C could be Joe E. Lewis. I used to ask if the workingmen got anything extra for wearing this stuff for Specs, and across the board the answer was, "Are you nuts?"
