Legend has it that MGM had a rhino that wouldn't eat and sent someone out to the Al G. Barnes winter quarters to find out why. The story goes that Emerson explained that due to the configuration of a rhino's mouth the feeding pan had to be situated at a certain angle.
Whatever the reason he was immediately hired and remained there for the rest of his days.
