1976 Circus World #1

For some reason this show was produced by the Grand Ol Oprey people from Nashville and called "The Day The Circus Came To Town" the premise of which revolved around a little girl who didn't have enough money see the circus.

How long was this show performed? I started at the park in July 1977 and it was a more traditional circus performance. Was it's short run (by theme park standards) because the Felds didn't like it or some other issue?

We pulled out of there on Nov. 26 but I don't recall just when the story line was dropped.

I don't think much of the dates posted on each end. They don't even give the weekday- a must in all circus billing.

The "some reason" was that Mattel

had taken control of the park out

of their frustration over their

misunderstanding of arrangements

in the "purchase" of "The Show"

Some of that had to do with what

was not included & "show control"

The Feld's had an ironbound deal

& the benefits were tremendous

for them & for the shows

That's what you get Dave when you

have noncircus folks doing circus

The silly dates were the least of

the issues with the production

I have in my files an analytical

survey of the many discrepancies

done when Irvin was asked to help

I was part of the contingent sent

to fix & patch with little moolah
