Slivers started out working for Walter McLain on the Al G. Barnes Circus in 1936 and seen here (standing 4th from left) as McLain's first assistant on the Ringling show.
Not long after this picture was taken he was drafted into the Army and while in training learned that McLain had been killed.
He once told me that the show made an attempt to spring him out but was unsuccessful.
