Memories return of my sitting with Doc Henderson, waiting by the MKT tracks, in Texas, for the elephants to arrive by system boxcars. For our younger readers, the Ringling railroad operation ended as such after the close of the Big Top era, in 1956. In '57, with the show on a building route, the elephants rode the rails. The rest of the show was on rubber tires. Concello later restored train travel, but for this time, the GSOE got a taste of being a truck show.
I wonder why Hugo [I assume it is he] would be in uniform during unloading?
