From Richard Reynolds

Lotus and cart.

Some of the readers wondered if Lotus actually pulled the cart. Here is an example of her pulling it into the Barnes big top. An elephant is following behind with a dog as jockey.
I remember like it was yesterday seeing Lotus circle the big top's hippodrome track in 1938 (Barnes-SF with RBBB features). She was not pulling the cart, however. Her keeper stopped her right in front of my Dad and me. The keeper had a pail of bran or other grain. She opened her her cavernous mouth to enjoy the treat. He poured it in.

Lotus was retired from the road after 1944 and was replaced by the much younger female Chester (born on H-W in Chester, Pa in 1935). Lotus's last time to star was in 1951 when she walked in front of the cameras in the GSOE movie.
