I never met Mr. Doherty but his good friend Al Vidbel often mentioned him and said he eventually finished out his days as a longshore man in Jacksonville and visited him often.
Shorty was "Deafy" Denman's right hand man on the Ringling Show for many years and in fact replaced him after retirement.
