Bull Cars #1 (From Buckles)

I suppose that anything like that would be for ventilation.
My father told about the time an elephant went nuts while in a baggage car and couldn't be approached, so they cut holes like the ones you mentioned but it was to release the ones around her so they could be called out.
Reaching in around an elephants feet thru a small window is something I wouldn't care to do.

That Dorothy elephant that Jack Moore got from Hagen Bros was in a truck with small low doors for chaining/unchaining her. Maybe the truck came with her; I don't know. She nailed Shipley shortly after arriving and never went out with Carson and Barnes, was given to Tulsa Zoo where she hurt another guy.

I think they are for reaching in to chain or unchain tough elephants. Hind leg that is because youonly have tohook it around. No brahma or snaps. With Atayde we had 2 tough ones that backed in first and it was neat to reach in and chain them. I would not want to crawl in. Worked fine. No invention of mine but I was glad 9it was there/.
