Dutch and Dorey actually did.
As I recall they settled and had a nice home in Dallas with enough room to to set up the rigging in the back yard. One day while practicing, the poles collapsed and he was fatally injured.
Word came that he had survived the initial impact but the aftermath of falling debris finished him off.
I think Jimmy Hall remembers the occasion and might add something.

Buckles could have become a horse trainer as his uncle Gordon Ortan was on the big shows working 12 horse acts for many years.johnny
And his mother was a fine rider.
