From Bob Cline

Buckles,

I ran across this ad in Billboard a couple weeks ago.

Bob

"Actually this is Dutch's second wife Dorey (Doris?).
This followed a bitter divorce that included a law suit as to who had the rights to the title "Swing And Sway The Orton Way".
Dutch not only won but Gracie was forbidden to use the Orton name should she continue on as an aerialist.
Must have had a Hell of a lawyer."

I might add that years later they had a sway pole act on the Ringling Show that Bobby Gibbs called "Swing and Sway the Wong Way!"

For those that are keeping any records of such, this ad was found in the Billboard's April 9, 1949 issue on page 108.

Years later Carl Wong did a sway

pole act that could have used the

same slogan rightfully

After Carl left performing his

daughter Kim Sue (now Valla) &

J P Theron worked the 2 poles

Carl spent the next 31 years as

a union stagehand in Texas with

the Dallas Symphony

Both Dutch and Tex were Orton show employees who married into the family.
Tex to my Aunt Grace and Dutch (Vern Lidke) to Uncle Miles daughter Gracie.
I have trouble keeping it straight.
