Kelly-Miller Circus 1952

Bill Woodcock, Jimmy Hamiter and Bill Woodcock Jr.

Jimmy sold "seat checks" (Ira Watts idea) in the constricted connection between the menagerie and big top..... provided a lot of heat.
My Dad often said that he could never understand why the Millers wouldn't tolerate regular grift that involved only the local gentry challenging the Lucky Boys in the Side Show after the final Hoochie Cooch at night whereas this scam effected every man, woman and child that came to the show.
Try to sell a bag of peanuts to a family that had already purchased tickets and reserved seats then got the "squeeze".

Joe and Rosie Wright had the squeeze on Famous Cole. They said the word "Seats" when people came thru. There was perhaps 18" between their stands. Only if a person asked about unreserved seats would Joe point them to the far end blues.
