H-W Tableau 75 (From Dave Price)

I once heard Chappie Fox say that when they got HW Tab 75, they wanted to restore the Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater painting on the side, but all they had were black and white pictures of the wagon with Hagenbeck-Wallace.

It wasn't until someone found the illustration in a Mother Goose book that they were able to paint it in the correct colors. Here we see the wagon and the original Mother Goose print. Might be of interest to some of your wagon buffs.

Sorry Eric. Thank you. It's Buckles cockeyed way of running this deal, that confused me. :)

Wagon buffs may recall Emmett Kelly painted this panel, as he did others for Hagenbeck-Wallace. In his book, CLOWN, he recalls on page 119, that Manager Jess Adkins sidled up to Boss Painter Ernie Sylvester, saying, "Well, I see that Kelly sure believes in signing his name." Emmett quietly painted out his signature, as he may have done before this restoration was undertaken. His artistic credits may have thus been lost, but at one time his work graced HW wagons with Little Red Riding Hood, Popeye, The Three Bears, Mary and Her Lamb, and an array of Disney characters, for which he added, "With apologies to Walt Disney". His signature remained on that one.
