This large mural “Ballerina on a Runaway Horse” was painted on the proscenium of the Euclid Beach Park theater in Cleveland, Ohio. Originally used to present vaudeville and later silent motion pictures, the theater was ultimately used as an enclosure for a William F. Mangels WHIP ride. One of Cleveland’s leading amusement parks, Euclid Beach closed in 1969. |

This appears to be painted on the
asbestos fire curtain also known
as "The Iron" in the UK which is
directly behind the plaster line
of the proscenium & rides in the
"smoke pocket" of almost every
legitimate theater except those
few new 1s with a deluge curtain
As I mentioned "Deluge Curtain"
I just got a message from my pal
Ty Sanders (a NY stagehand) that
the theater he works in the Bronx
had the "great Niagra" effect set
off yesterday by the alarm guys
during the testing of the system
Every so often we hear of these
spectacular accidents
It's always sad to hear about any
old theater's demise & I wonder
if the Hanna Theater in Cleveland
is still there & operating
Come to think of it 1 of our 2
National Touring Companies of
"Wicked" is playing the last of
5 weeks at the State Theater in
Cleveland with a 9 performance
week to wraparound Christmas
Is that the WICKED circus show I've heard so much about?/
KLSDAD
That must be it DAD Happy Holiday
Intersting DAD that your profile
is "Not Available" who are you
The old Cleveland Palace on Euclid is still going. Clyde Beatty played there on his very short vaude tour in early 1936.
Yes indeed Dave "The Palace" is a
prime theater of what they call
Playhouse Square along with "The
Allen" "The State" & "The Ohio"
theaters that were all restored
some years back & now I've heard
that "The Hanna" which had been
derelict for many years has been
taken into the fold & has been
restyled into a smaller thrust
stage facility but very nicely
