Over the years, the Band of the Royal Corps of Transport recorded several albums of the music that they had played for Horse of the Year Show performances. These selections run the gambit from works by Mozart to Broadway shows tunes, Gilbert & Sullivan, traditional British marches and contemporary pop tunes. |

The band’s commercial recordings provide a good example of how the musical programs evolved over the years. The band’s earliest recording, which dates from 1967, consists mostly of traditional British & European marches, selections from the classics and light classics, familiar British folk music, etc. Although the later recordings feature an increased use of contemporary pop music and Broadway show tunes, they also feature the traditional selections that were kept in the program by popular demand.
Sadly, the Royal Corps of Transport (RCT) - and its band - are no more. In 1993, as part of the post-cold-war force reductions, the RCT, along with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, Royal Pioneer Corps, Army Catering Corps, and the Royal Engineers Postal and Courier Service were consolidated into the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC). Known informally as the "Rather Large Corps" the RLC makes up about 16-17% of the current British Army.
