The girl is Pat English. The scenario had Beatty offering a lion-training school, and it got reams of publicity, including a photo essay in LIFE magazine, in 1941. Footage of this can be found on YouTube. A good number of applicants turned up in earnest. Beatty had them present for feeding time, when the cats raged at the cagefronts for their meat, and tore into the cuts voraciously. Shaken by the true nature of the lions, the class thinned to the lone Pat English, who also did not extend her interest for long.
