Bob Good Photo. Mr Good and Beatty went back to 1927 as good friends.

Warm memories of the Good family's friendship with Beatty are still shared by Bob Good, Jr., who took to his father's circus interests, and on his own, developed a first-class hand-balancing act. I will remember fondly the exquisite dinner Mrs. Good set for us at their home at 1609 Turner Street. We had played a Sunday matinee-only there in Allentown, Pa., on June 21st. The occasion, of course, was in honor of the Beatty family, but as Beatty's driver and personal assistant, I was humbled and thrilled to be invited to sit down next to my boss. His cancer was present then, still undiagnosed. After one bite of this fine repast, his stomach was on fire, and he could not eat. Mr. Good had a doctor come over to give Beatty a massive shot of B-12, hoping to boost his waning energy. It helped briefly, but he still could not enjoy the excellent dinner before him. I believe this was the last time the Good family saw Mr. Beatty.

Mr Good told me the following about another visit from Beatty:

The Goods took him out for Chinese and Good commented that even late in Beatty's life and long after his peak years, a crowd still gathered on the sidewalk at the door of the restaurant to watch The One and Only come out.

Boy, there has never been another Clyde Beatty.
