Always love to see photos of Bebe. She was a grand old gal and a real trouper and comfortable person to have as a friend. What ever happened to JoAnne Seigrest.. Wasn't she married to Elden Day at one time? Joe Seigrest was her husband, if I remember correctly.
Bess Castello was the mother of Bebe who married Joe Siegrist (son of Charles). Bebe and Joe were the parents of Joanne Siegrist, born about 1928, and who was married to Eldon Day. Joe died sometime before 1960 as in that year Billboard referred to his widow as Ethel but whether that was Bebe's proper name or Joe remarried I do not know. Bebe died in 1991 at age 82.
There were a lot of Siegrists in the business but not all were born as or married into the family. Just being in the act could give you that name. I knew a Butch Siegrist but his real name was Francis Brann; he got the name for being in the Charlie Siegrist act on the Barnum show from 1910-1921 (he was also from Charlie's home town of Canton, NY). Another example is Joe Wallenda who was really Joe Geiger but his life spent with the troupe made him known as a Wallenda. And I am not sure if the famous and popular Charles Siegrist ever changed his name from Patterson after being picked up as a kid off the streets of Roseburg, Oregon, by Toto Siegrist, a real Siegrist.
And I'll add there was a flying act named Siegrist still around at least as late as 1956.
Jackie, I am delighted to read anything you post and please, please continue to do so! Dick Flint Baltimore
Beautiful woman. In this shot, her blonde beauty, for me, outshines that of Betty Grable.
Right, for a time it was JoAnne and Elden Day, and they were within the Concello cadre of flyers. Last time I saw Elden, he was Timekeeper for RBBB in the '60s. Tuffy Genders was Manager.
In reply to Jackie, I've discovered that Joanne Siegrist Day remarried and lived in Brandon, FL, where she died in 2009. She was predeceased by her son, Elden Joseph "Joey" Day. Dick Flint Baltimore
