That's Raymond Hatton in C. I'd take bets that old crumpled Stetson is a carry-over from his early Westerns. Circus folk love the old man for co-starring in Clyde Beatty's first film, THE BIG CAGE (Universal, 1933). He was Timothy O'Leary, the drunken old washed-up trainer, stepping aside for the up-and-coming Beatty (who, by the way, always used his own name onscreen). Hatton's son was a 13-year-old Mickey Rooney, who almost stole the picture. Hatton started in 1909, and formed a comedy team with slouchy old Wallace Beery in the silents. He played sidekicks and bit parts for most of his career, but its a career actors dream of. He has 415titles listed in IMDb, but another bio credits him with over 500 film appearances, the last being IN COLD BLOOD (1967). He died at 84, in 1971, and is interred with his wife, Francis, in Joshua Memorial Park, Lancaster, California. I'll send my photo of their marker.
