This is the view today from the corner of Railroad Ave (with its stone
embankment for the still-active railroad tracks, seen left) and, to the right,
Norman Ave (not evident in the previous view). Today, the same ten acres
contain baseball and soccer fields. In the distance as well as along Norman St.
are homes still standing from when elephants were their neighbors. The winter
quarters fronted Railroad Ave. for about the length of three telephone poles
seen in this photo. Let’s walk about half the distance to the left down
Railroad Ave. to again look upon the old quarters.
