Exactly one month earlier in Redding they tipped over this loaded elephant car in the railroad years.
I remember they temporarily moved the elephants in two rented baggage cars until it was repaired.

Were there no major injuries

A few guys were riding on top of the car rather than walk to the place it would be spotted.
All jumped as it went over and Ted Meyers got a broken leg.

So none of the elephants were hurt

I remember my dad saying what an ordeal it was to get the elephants loaded into those strange cars after being tipped over.
It was daylight before they got it done while the rest of the show waited.
Some of them could be difficult to deal with even under the best circumstances, as John Herriott well knows.
