ASTROHALL by bucklesw1

Long hot summer. for its first outing, the new Blue Unit, in 1969, spent 3 hot months in Houston at the Astrohall. Not too many around who probably remember much about this, can't imagine it was a
huge success, sitting there for 90 days, but since Judge Hofheinz was a newly-anointed circus co-owner and also owned the Astrohall (built in 1966 and now demolished) he probably needed a summer-
long tenant. Also i think perhaps that RBBB needed to buy some time to get a proper route in place for a second unit. Whatever this debut Blue Unit was, it was restaged and re-cast to some degree for 1970, becoming the still-memorable 100th anniversary show.

That lengthy engagement was offered

as a bonus to the Judge as part of

the desperate pitch for him to be

a partner so that he would cosign

the note from Wells Fargo where he

just happened to be on the board

Most folks involved that summer

were not happy & felt abandoned

Attendance was slim to none

The "New Blue Unit" contained the

remnants of the original show as

well as many extra elements

"The Red Show"(Circus Williams)

was the new unit (das is gut)
